Step 1 - Design a Game
Design a game using the tools we have learned so far about Unity, namely
- GameObjects,
- Scripts,
- Tags and Layers,
- Physics with RigidBody
- Collisions,
- Mouse Input and Clicks,
- Triggers,
- Effects,
- Velocity,
- Vection,
- LineRenderers,
- Buttons,
- Camera Movement,
- Lerp,
- AudioSource, and
- Physic Material.
Your game does not need to be complex, but should be interesting for the user to play
and require some skill.
Your game needs to incorporate either two or more of the Theme words: Chaos,
Broom,
River.
If you use externally developed assets, you must either cite them, either under fair use, or
be sure they are free and in the public domain.
Step 2 - Unity Collaboration - Due Feb 17
Add your playtesters into your Unity Collaboration project. Your playtester are those teams
adjacent to you in the list, so team C shares with teams B and D.
Step 3 - Playtesting - Due Feb 20
Besides looking for technical glitches and erroneous behavior, Analyze how the other team's game works in
the following areas:
- How does the game have narrative progression?
- How does the game introduce tension into the gameplay.
- How does the game embody the theme?
- How does the game incorporate discernable and meaningful play?
- How does the game accomodate variances in user intent?
Identify at least one elements that was exceptional, and
any elements that were confusing.
Step 4 - Revision - Due Feb 21 in class
Based on your playtesting feedback, make one improvement to your game. Write a one-page
description of your goals for the game, and how the playtesting feedback was incorporated.
Denote any additional skills you added into your game beyond the above list.
Include the playtesting reports received in your submission.
Include me in your Unity Collaboration project, so the games can be demoed in class on
this day.
